Negative Effects Of T.V. On Kids

The Negative Effects of TV on children

The TALK will cover the following using real life examples, commercials, and using question and answers to the audience.
The NOTE:
ü  ‘I wake up at night sometimes, very afraid,’ a 9 year old girl tells me, ‘thinking that terrorists may come.’
ü  A four year old child pays with another saying, ‘I’ll kill you ok? And you must die’.
ü  Another watches Big Boss and speaks nastily to his own mother, in the same tone and voice as one of the contestants.
The TV usually sits in the middle of our living rooms. And we don’t realize how important a part it plays in our lives. Especially its influence on children, in the acquiring of social skills, behavior and values.
And though, it can be educative and entertaining, and of course, influence positive development in children, it can also have adverse effects o them.
Of course, how much impact TV has on children depends on many factors: how much they watch, their age and personality, whether they watch alone or with adults, and whether their parents talk with them about what they see on TV.
To minimize the potential negative effects of television, it's important to understand what the impact of television can be on children.
The few effects that will be elaborated on are:
*      Violence
*      Risky behavior
*      Obesity
There is enough reason to begin to teach our children good TV habits.
The talk will also cover
Teaching Good TV Habits
