Negative Effects Of T.V. On Kids

The Negative Effects of TV on children

The TALK will cover the following using real life examples, commercials, and using question and answers to the audience.
The NOTE:
ü  ‘I wake up at night sometimes, very afraid,’ a 9 year old girl tells me, ‘thinking that terrorists may come.’
ü  A four year old child pays with another saying, ‘I’ll kill you ok? And you must die’.
ü  Another watches Big Boss and speaks nastily to his own mother, in the same tone and voice as one of the contestants.
The TV usually sits in the middle of our living rooms. And we don’t realize how important a part it plays in our lives. Especially its influence on children, in the acquiring of social skills, behavior and values.
And though, it can be educative and entertaining, and of course, influence positive development in children, it can also have adverse effects o them.
Of course, how much impact TV has on children depends on many factors: how much they watch, their age and personality, whether they watch alone or with adults, and whether their parents talk with them about what they see on TV.
To minimize the potential negative effects of television, it's important to understand what the impact of television can be on children.
The few effects that will be elaborated on are:
*      Violence
*      Risky behavior
*      Obesity
There is enough reason to begin to teach our children good TV habits.
The talk will also cover
Teaching Good TV Habits
Some practical ways to make TV-viewing more productive in your home:
*      Including monitoring content. Limited number of watching hours.
*      Setting up other activities for children….etc.

Workshop On Dealing With Child's Fears

Title: Mommy why do people die? - How to deal with the ‘terrible things’ kids are afraid of.

There was a time when you only had to explain away the monsters under the bed by looking underneath and telling your child that there isn’t anything there.
But how do you explain terrorists?  Two people fighting on the road? war?  death?
We live in a world where children are exposed to more and more things that go against their innocent nature. That baffle, shock and scare them.
How do we help them stay children, protect their innocence and yet help them face the world of today.

This talk will deal with the questions of terrorism, abuse, family fights, anger,  war, death. ..
Some things are difficult to explain to kids.. and in this talk we try to help you findrational ways to explain and soothe them.

Corporate Offering...

OPEN WINDOW: EDUCATIONAL LIBRARY FOR CHILDREN FROM 2 TO 14 YEARS OF AGE

We, at Open Window are here to partner with you in bringing a smile and much more to both your employees as well as your organization - right at your door step
Work Life Balance is a challenge for the organisation as well as the employee - Open Windows will partner with the organisation as well as the employee to realise this.  Open Window will partner in enhancing the Quality of Life of the employee related to their children by providing educational materials at their workplace.

In today’s fast paced world, one grapples for time to do the small and precious things in life, like spending time teaching one’s children, providing them the right books and games and enhancing various aspects of his/her intelligence.

We offer a Mobile library service that will come right up to your workplace and deliver educational material (in the form of toys, board games, DVDs, books) that have been custom selected for your employee's child by our team of professional counsellors.

We believe this will save your employees a lot of time and energy, and also give them the satisfaction and confidence of giving the best to the child. We are sure this will go a long way in bringing smiles all around and building a trusted bond between your organization and your employees.

ABOUT US...
Open Window was started in 2010 as a Toy Rental Library and Multiple Intelligence based Learning Centre. Our belief is that each child is unique and has his/her own way of understanding the world... We help children want to learn for the joy of learning and not because they have to.
 Through our Learning Centre we conduct a gamut of workshops on academics, art, craft and life skills not just for children but for parents and teachers as well.

Our library is based on the theory of Multiple Intelligence which essentially states that different children have different learning styles. Our products are classified into 8 categories based on these styles. We intend to understand each child and hence our team of professional counsellors will assess the child and decide what best suits his learning needs. Continuous support will be offered over telephone conversations or emails to discuss the child’s progress.
Our team consists of well qualified professionals and counsellors with years of experience in education and child psychology.
We are also in the process of tying up with schools to set up educational programs for students and teachers. We are now extending our facilities to corporate clients/working parents who we believe will appreciate the benefits of professionally handpicked educational resources for their children delivered right at their work place.

  HOW WILL IT WORK????
 To start with, we could come over and hold an open evening for your employees where we can introduce ourselves, and distribute pamphlets and explain what we have to offer them and their children. We will also recommend appropriate plans based on individual needs.
  1.  The employee registers with us and decides which of the plans he/she wants to avail.
  2. We will understand where the child’s interests lie, what they like, what they don’t and will assist in choosing the toys, books, DVDs the child will enjoy playing/reading/watching.
  3. Once a week the mobile van will collect the toys being returned and issue the fresh toys selected
LET’S TALK....
There are a lot of wonderful things we could do together for the people in your organization to enable them to be happy parents and happier employees.
We can come over and meet you and start a conversation, we are sure we’ll open a window of possibilities!

Please feel free to contact us for more details.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best Wishes,
Team Open Window
